We have had a good week with some good news. It started last week, with Jodie calling the Deputy Inspector of Police in Peshawar, Pakistan around 7 am in the morning (Norwegian time). Turns out he is the brother of our previous neighbour in Peshawar, and within the day, a fax copy of the so needed police certificate from Pakistan was sent to Geir's office. Now we are just waiting for the original by post to have completed all the requirements to get Geir's visa. The Australian Embassy in Berlin called today to undertake a phone interview and conclusion is that everything is OK once the original arrives, and a permanent visa will then be stamped into the passport !!! Calls for a bit of celebration once we get that passport back !

AND more news - we have now decided on a name for our property. Finding a suitable name is never easy and in the end we have done what many have done before us, i.e. make up a name from some of the surroundings. Our property is located between two lagoons:

Pipe Clay Lagoon is a salt water lagoon that can be accessed from the sea. It is protected in that the council has certain regulations in respect of building etc. and there is some oyster farming at the southern part of the lagoon. It is a good place for wind surfing, board kiting, etc. and right at the entrance to it we expect to have our little boat.

Rushy Lagoon is a fresh water lagoon that is dry most of the time, but that fills up with water if there is a lot of rain, and then can attract a lot of interesing bird life. It also has a log of plant species that are considered worth protecting. We are considering putting up a couple of bird watching huts that can be used by people that are interested in this activity. The central part of Rushy Lagoon is protected as a nature reserve and the state is encouraging the owners of the rest of the Rushy (we have around 10% of the total) to either put a covenant on that part of the property or enter a management agreement with the state. We will look at this when we move and start building our house. More info on Rushy can be found by clicking on the Rushy Lagoon option on top.

So then, what's the name? Well, since we have the lagoons at either end, Jodie came up with the name PIPSHY. We have thought about it for a while and both come to like it a lot, so it is now official, the property is called Pipshy. We have also applied to get the domain name www.pipshy.com and we should therefore have a more permanent place for our pages in some time. This probably will require some web-redesign work, but that will come with time. This name will then also be used in connections with what we are doing, so we are looking at "Pipshy Farm" for our farm activities, "Pipshy Consulting" for consultancy work we might do, and who knows, maybe Geir will also have his little creazy idea of "Pipshy Squash Club" realised at some time.
