Bathroom walls and floor finished

The inside work needed to be done related to the bathroom, and over the last couple of days we have managed to finish 3-4 coats of paint on the walls, as well as putting down the vinyl floor covering. We had initially planned to use some tiles that we got from a guy in Sydney when travelling through last year, but these turned out to be wall tiles and thus not recommended to be put on the floor. Vinyl is not something we really fancy, but in order to make the bathroom completion quicker we decided to go for it at least for the moment. Saves us putting down a membrane and then doing the tiling before we can start using the bathroom.

What is missing now is installing the shower and the vanity basin and that will hopefully happen over the next couple of days. We had a bit of an accident in the wind yesterday as the shower cabinet was stored outside and the wind caught one of the sides and basically smashed it to pieces. So we have to see if we can find replacement of the plastic that made up the side. The shower base was also stored outside, fell over in the wind, and a part of the drain pipe broke, so this will also have to be replaced before we can install the shower. But hopefully a visit to the plumbing shop tomorrow will help solve the problems.

Will post some more pictures when we have it all installed, but as for now, here is a little progress report:

Just to explain the plywood in the wall. This is the space for the future window to be installed, but as there will be a strawbale wall on that side of the bathroom, we decided to wait with the window installation until the bale wall is done. In the meantime we have to cope with looking at a piece of plywood instead of out through the window......

And, yeah, skirting boards will be installed when we receive the materials from the sawmill on Tuesday. Then we also receive all the other materials for the garage, so there is lots of work to be done in the coming weeks and months.
