Rendering has started....and is going well

Yesterday was the day for staring the rendering job. It was a bit exiting making the first batch and trying it out, but after a couple of small tests we found the right mix to use. The first two were a bit on the dry side for the first coat, but now we have a good mix to use.

The work is actually going a bit faster than we anticipated - which is very nice for a change. This might just be a case of us having gotten used to things taking a long time, but in two days where Geir worked alone on the first day, and we both worked on the second, we have now finished the outside of one side wall (southern side) and the back wall of the garage/workshop (eastern side). We even finished rendering at aroun d 3 pm today (late lunch break) and did other things after lunch, so we we are hoping that two more days will have the first coat completed on the outside.

The second coat is likely to take a bit longer in that there is more render to put onto the walls. This first coat is reasonably liquid and is being pushed into the bales in order to make it stick. We found that it is actually easiest doing this by hand as we can then follow the curves in the bales easier than if we use a float. This will be different for the second coat, but we will come back to that after we have tried.

Not much more to say about it at the moment, so will leave it for now with some pictures taken today.

We do not yet have a picture of the completed eastern side, as we had to put up tarps to protect the render from the sun that we got this afternoon. It was a really nice day today, and we are hoping for similar the next few days for us to finish the first two coats on the workshop/garage.
