Workshop completed and rendering inside the garage
Well, the nice weather we were hoping for has not turned up yet, so we have not been able to do any more rendering on the main house. But luckily we have not been unemployed as we always have plenty of things to do.
As was mentioned in the last entry we had managed to do the benches in the workshop, completed the tool wall, etc. Since then we have also completed a big work table. Originally the idea was to make a work table with at least two wheels on it, so that it could easily be moved outside if we needed the floor space. Jodie then came up with the idea that it could be hinged on the wall instead and this is what we now have done. Having completed it, we are very happy with the solution and hopefully this will give us a good working space for doing doors and other things for the inside of the house (once we get to that stage!).

This is the workshop as it now stands. The surface of the bench is made out of marine ply which we originally used for the boxing of the house slab. The legs are all made from pine that was used on the back of the boxing work (see pictures on entry 42). We got all this for free from the guy we borrowed the boxing from, as a return for taking it all apart when we had finished.
The table has also been made from similar marine ply but this we had to buy new. A bit disappointing (we know) but it is very hard to find such a big piece second hand. The table is 1200mm wide and 2200mm long so it had to be made out of one piece in order to have a nice flat working surface.

This is what it looks like when the table is folded away. It is fixed with two strong stainless steel hinges at the bottom, to a lintel that is screwed into three studs in the wall. The legs then fold out when it is lowered down and it ends up like this:

Once the workshop was completed we were hoping to do more rendering outside, but due to the windy weather this has not been possible. As such we have completed the second coat of rendering inside the garage over the last two days.

This is the northern wall and the door will lead to our covered walkway towards the house. The cables on the floor are the electricity supply to the house - obviously not yet installed.

The rest of the northern wall in the garage. Have just noticed that we probably have more pictures of our scaffolds in these pages that we have of ourselves.

And finally the western wall with a window towards the vegetable garden and the little cabin.
In addition Jodie has also started planting some bushes around our garden and we will also plant some winter vegetables tomorrow (hopefully). More pictures will come later.
